GLIMPSES OF THE LOCKDOWN

Glimpses of the Lockdown is a tribute to the collective solidarity promoted by Òmnium Cultural with the collaboration of the Cruïlla Festival linked to the situation derived from the Covid-19 pandemic. It is a collective artwork, directed by the artist Joan Fontcuberta, destined to survive as a symbol of the solidarity, determination and perseverance of the people during the pandemic. The work will be permanently installed on a 50-meter wall in the city of Igualada, the epicenter of the first outbreak of the Covid-19 in Catalonia.

Glimpses of the lockdown encourages citizens to participate with photographs that show what they do in their homes during the lockdown.

Joan Fontcuberta has created this photomosaic from the photographs of those who wanted to contribute to forming this great artistic and collective work. The 64.000 images received, a mirror of the gestures we made during the lockdown, form 11 photographs that represent groups that have been and are protagonists of this uncertain situation, and which have been there for the others.

The work is a tribute to the collective solidarity that has emerged and continues to emerge as a result of this social and health crisis. This solidarity has shown us that with the strength of each and every one of us we can stand up and move forward.

Each of the people represented in the photomosaic writes in sign language the letters that make up the word SOLIDARITY.

Glimpses from the lockdown was a project born to make us remember that every gesture is indispensable, that we are all a key piece in this great network of solidarity and that we cannot forget that the strength of a country is its people.
